WHMIS Training

WHMIS is the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, which is a Canada-wide system used to provide employers and workers with vital information about the hazardous materials that can be found in their workplace.

Whether you are working in a restaurant or a hotel, you will at some point during your workday, handle, store, process, or work with hazardous materials. It is your responsibility to do so in a safe and healthy manner to ensure your safety as well as your coworkers. This course will provide employers, managers, supervisors, and employees with the information to prevent or reduce the likelihood of disease or injury in the workplace.

WHMIS was developed in response to Canadian Worker’s “Right to Know” about health and safety hazards by labour and industry with help from federal, provincial and territorial regulatory agencies, and became effective on October 31st, 1988.

Suppliers (manufacturers, processors, or packagers) are responsible to classify, label and provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all their hazardous (controlled) products.  Information on safe handing, use, storage, and disposal of these controlled products must be provided by the supplier using labels and MSDS sheets.   This information in turn must be communicated by the employer to his/her employees.

With this course, you will receive training in a dynamic environment and a certificate in Basic WHMIS.
