Operation Red Nose

Safety Services Manitoba will launch the 2012 Operation Red Nose campaign in Manitoba on Friday, November 16, at its head office in Winnipeg at 3 - 1680 Notre Dame.

Operation Red Nose is a volunteer service that provides safe transportation home for drivers - and their vehicles - who have had a little too much holiday cheer.

If you're planning your office Christmas party, don't forget to have ORN on hand to make sure your coworkers and their guests get home safely.

Safe Work: Employers Make SAFE Workplaces

On October 29th, you will see the ads on various mediums - on TV, on outdoor billboards, in the newspaper, and in restaurants and cabarets for the new SAFE work campaign "Employers Make SAFE Workplaces".

The TV ad and visuals are a humorous, "tongue in cheek" approach to educating employers' responsibility for workplace safety.

Safe Work: Safe Youth Spot The Zombies Manitoba

Over the next few weeks, you may notice a number of zombies lurking around Manitoba landmarks on your TV set.

Those are teaser ads for the new SAFE Work Youth Campaign "Spot The Zombies Manitoba". The campaign is targeted at young workers and employers to help raise awareness of workplace hazards and the importance of workplace safety training.

Recycling Collection Service for Small Businesses

Who is eligible for this service?
Small businesses that produce between 0.5 and 3.0 cubic metres (1.0 - 4.0 cubic yards) of garbage per week and use the city of Winnipegs garbage collection service are eligible.

Who provides the recycling containers?
The City of Winnipeg provides the recycling containers at no charge. You can choose from two types of containers:

  • plastic carts – 2 wheeled containers, with a 360-litre capacity
  • metal bins – 2.25 cubic metre capacity (2250 litres). These are as large or larger than your garbage bin, and available with wheels and lockable metal lids if requested.

Regulation Amendments

Earlier changes to the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation (February 1, 2011) included new requirements to protect workers from psychological harassment in the workplace, such as intimidation, bullying and humiliation. It is important to note that normal and reasonable management actions, including discipline, are not defined as psychological harassment.

October 21 2010 - PROVINCE ANNOUNCES NEW REGULATIONS TO PROTECT AGAINST PSYCHOLOGICAL HARASSMENT IN WORKPLACE

July 6 2011 - The Workplace Safety and Health Regulation has changed to include new requirements to protect workers from workplace violence. These changes will take effect on August 31, 2011.
